  • Chairman's Message

Firstly may I welcome you to the Warrington Amateur Radio Club website, whether you’re an existing member or someone interested in joining you will find a very well equipped and also friendly club.  2022 marked the 75th anniversary since it was formed and on reflection the past few years have possibly been the most challenging in recent history.

Adapting to change is important whilst we continue to serve the needs of members and put the club on a good footing for the next 75 years, but my vision is firmly fixed on growing the membership. We are fully inclusive so whether you are a newcomer,  returning to the hobby, keen contester, enjoy chasing DX, chinwags, project building or just socialising there is something for everyone.

The clubhouse  boasts a permanently equipped radio station covering the  HF, VHF and UHF bands and we aim to add QO-100 ATV capability making it one of the UK’s best equipped clubs. We have an impressive test and work area to support experimental, new build projects, fault finding and repair.

Tuesday evening talks start at 8 pm and covers a wide range of radio amateur topics, activities and technologies, often this stimulates  live debate and interest.

Coffee mornings are held every Thursday morning at 10 am, and is an opportunity for members to socialise. All members are welcome to enjoy a hot drink and friendly chat with fellow members.

Solder Sunday at 2 pm is an opportunity to talk about more technical aspects, projects underway or ideas for new projects. Members can either go to the clubhouse or join in general discussions via Zoom.

I appreciate these are difficult times with increases in the cost of  living being one of the prime concerns. Therefore, it’s important that we continue to  provide value for money by maintaining accessibility to the clubhouse facilities and remotely access the club station.

As the I look forward to the year ahead we will continue to be mindful to provide safe access and enjoyment for all members. Thank you for your continued contribution and support enabling the club to continually develop and prosper.
